Signing and Groundbreaking Ceremony|Macau International Airport Expansion Project - Land Reclamation and Apron Construction

The contract signing ceremony for this project took place on the afternoon of November 21, 2024, followed by a grand groundbreaking ceremony the next morning.Distinguished guests who attended and officiated the groundbreaking ceremony included Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau SAR Zheng Xincong, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Macau SAR Liu Xianfa, President of the Legislative Assembly Kou Hoi In, Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo Arrais do Rosário, and Deputy Head of the Civil Aviation Administration of China Liang Nan.

Project Description

The project was awarded to our company in collaboration with China Harbour Engineering Co.,Ltd. and Northwest Civil Aviation Airport Construction Group Co.,Ltd. As a local contractor in Macau, we are honored to participate and contribute to such a rare and significant infrastructure project, which is a valuable opportunity for us.

The project mainly involves land reclamation in the water area between the artificial runway island and the two existing taxi bridges within the original airport zone, thereby expanding apron capacity to increase aircraft parking spaces and constructing rapid exit taxiways. A 95-meter-wide waterway will be reserved between the artificial runway island and the apron. The newly reclaimed land and facilities will significantly enhance the capacity of the passenger terminal and general aviation facilities while also increasing runway capacity.

The total reclamation area is approximately 129 hectares, which includes the construction of a central drainage channel, a new connecting bridge, aprons, taxiways, and various auxiliary navigation facilities. The entire project is expected to be completed by 2030.
