“The Extension of Phase 1 of the Hospital Conde S. Januário – Public Health Specialty Building”

Scope of Work:

The project is located to the southwest of the Hospital Conde S. Januário, between Estrada Nova and Estrada do Visconde de S. Januário. The lot area is 31698.16 square meters, with the total construction area of 30899.96 square meters, of which the parking area is 6098.03 square meters. The A2-level eight-storey building is 35.60 meters high (calculated from Estrada Nova, including the ground floor). The patient entrance and exit are located at the fifth floor, the staff entrance and exit are located at the sixth floor, and the logistics entrance and exit are located at the ground floor.

The building has four floors of isolation wards, each with 20 standard single isolation wards, with a total of 80 beds. To facilitate staff movement between the Specialty Building and the existing Hospital Conde S. Januário as well as the dormitory of the frontline medical staff, the pedestrian viaduct and underground passages are set up on the seventh and fifth floors of the Building to connect the two buildings.

Current Progress:

The project has successfully completed the structural topping-out on March 19, 2022, ahead of the contract node 1 (structural topping-out) on May 4, 2022.

At present, the curtain walls and the steel structure works of this project are nearly completed. And the scaffolding on the external walls has been almost removed, with only a small amount of finishing works remaining. And it is expected to be totally completed in this December.

The interior decoration and electromechanical works are in full swing. In terms of the interior decoration works, more than 90% of the plastering work is completed, followed by drying work, including: Paint works, ceiling works, plastic floor paving works, medical airtight door installation and woodware installation works... etc. The overall mechanical and electrical works have been completed 62%, and the testing works of each system are planned to start at the beginning of next year.

The steel structure of the two pedestrian viaducts connecting the dormitory of the frontline medical staff with the CHCSJ has been successfully installed. The exterior walls of the viaducts have been completed, and the scaffolding was removed on October 15, 2022. The viaducts are expected to be completed in November.

Overall, the sub-projects of this project have been carried out in an orderly manner, with satisfactory progress.
